We’ll teach your child soccer skills and how to implement them in game play.

We’re the largest and most affordable youth sports club in Stamford,
with
2,000 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 19 playing soccer every year.
No tryouts are required, and we welcome players of all ability levels.

Your child will learn the fundamental skills they need to play soccer,
all while building their confidence, and having fun making new friends!

 With registration, every player receives:

a team uniform
AND
a free ticket to an NYC FC game at Yankee Stadium!

The House League is made up of a Recreation Program and a Junior Program.

  • Every player on a Rec team is guaranteed to play at least half of each game, so players get a lot of time on the field to practice their skills and have loads of fun!
  • Players in our Junior Program are trained by professional coaches who train our Travel and Premier teams.
  • Both Programs kick off early Sept with eight weeks of training and game play.

Choose the program that fits your child’s birth year:

Games are played on Saturdays at various Stamford schools. Practices are typically held on one or two weeknights.
Every player in the Rec League is guaranteed to play for half of each game. The cost for this program is $200 if you register by  3/10, and $225 after 3/10.

General Information on the House League and Rec Program

There are three seasons of play: fall (September – November), indoor (January – March) and spring (April-June).

Teams, Practices and Games

Boys and girls can start playing soccer in our House League at age 4. House league players in the All City Divisions play in a recreation atmosphere. The divisions are split along birth year lines. Mixed Divisions 1, 2 and 3 & Girls Divisions 1, 2 and 3 are made up of multiple birth years depending upon the number of registrants.

House League games are all played in Stamford, and players are guaranteed to play approximately half of each game. Mixed Divisions 1, 2 and 3 and Girl Divisions 1, 2 and 3 typically play 1 game per week.

Junior boys and girls divisions have one professional training session on Saturday morning and a game coached by a professional coaches on a weeknight. During any "game play" this age follows a 3v3 and 4v4 philosophy

Regular seasons typically last 7 to 8 weeks, plus playoffs, for mixed and girls Divisions 2 and 3.

Practices for Mixed Divisions 1, 2 and 3 and Girl Divisions 1, 2 and 3 are typically held when it is convenient for the parent coach (es) and may be during the weekend or on the week when a game is not scheduled.

The High School Rec+ teams are comprised of players from 9th through 12th grade, and compete against other local town’s Rec+ teams. Rec+ games are played both in Stamford and in surrounding towns.

Your child may request to play on the same team as a friend in the junior divisions only...if the registration is received by the season deadline.

For the older divisions (ages 8 to 14), we do not accept requests, but we will place players together if parents are coaching or sponsoring the team, or age appropriate siblings who want to play on the same team.

Coaches

House League teams between age 8 and 14 are generally coached by parents. Presently, our junior division girls & boys (age 4 to 7) are coached by professional coaches. Crocodile Elite Soccer Academy trains our girls; Quality Touch Soccer Academy our boys.

If you would like to coach your child’s House League team, you may volunteer as you register online or on your child’s registration form. We are always in need of more help. You are required by the State of Connecticut to complete a background check (about a three minute process). You are also required by State law to complete a Safesport Certification. That process is also done online and takes about 1 1/2 hours which can be broken up into any smaller segments that work for your personal schedule. Stamford FC offers coaching clinics each year. Contact the office (203) 322-5455 for more information.  If you have questions about coaching, you may contact Bob Pepi or Erik Linask.

Sponsoring a Team
Indicate on your child’s registration that you wish to sponsor or call the league office. You may also email our Director, Bob Pepi. Sponsorship fees are very reasonable because we wish to encourage small, local businesses. If you respond in a timely manner you can usually sponsor your child’s team.
Banner sponsorships are also available for our West Beach Soccer facility.

Team Pictures
Team pictures are free with registration for the fall season. You may also purchase one of the packages offered for individuals.

Uniforms and Equipment

We recommend that every player has their own soccer ball for practice. In addition, all players will need a uniform and be required to wear shin guards. Please see below for additional details and requirements for play.

Every player should have his/her own soccer ball.  Junior division players use #3 size soccer balls.  Mixed Division 1 and 2 and Girls Division 1 and 2 use #4 size soccer balls and Division 3 and Girls Division 3 use #5 size soccer balls. Every player needs shin guards. Players may wear soccer cleats or sneakers for the spring and fall seasons. For the indoor soccer shoes may be worn, but sneakers will do.  A complete uniform for fall and spring will be provided by Stamford FC (shorts, jerseys, socks) and is included in the cost of registration. Indoor registration includes jersey only.

Tryouts, Registration and Fees

There are no tryouts for players in our House League. Players who wish to play in the House League only need to register for the season.  We encourage on-time registration, as players are placed on teams as registrations are received, and teams tend to fill up quickly. While we make every effort to give every child a chance to participate, if a registration is received after the deadline, players may be placed on a wait list until roster spots become available. The House League follows a practice of keeping teams together between fall and spring seasons to the extent players register on time.

Registration for fall House League season typically takes place in June, July and August. For our Winter House Indoor League season, typically in November, December and January. For our spring House League season, in March and April.  Registration may be done online on our website with a credit card. Registrations may also be mailed to: SYSL, P.O. Box 4266, Stamford, CT  06907.

Registration forms for House League play are distributed in June for the Fall Season, in February for the Spring Season and in November for the Indoor Season in three ways:

1. Two emails to all players registered in the previous year.

2. A post office mailing to all players registered in the previous year.

3. Through the Stamford Board of Education online email system Peachjar.

You may download a form for the upcoming season from the website.
