Q: What age does my child need in order to play?
Players can start playing soccer in our recreational league at age 4. Players in our travel leagues can start as young as U8 depending upon whether there is enough interest to field a team. Players in our premier leagues generally start at age 12.
Q: How can my child get on a Travel or Premier Team?
Attend the tryout for your age appropriate team. Information regarding tryouts may be found on our website and social media pages. If your child misses the date of the tryout for their age appropriate group, you should contact:

Q: How many games do Travel and Premier Teams play?
Travel teams generally play 8 regular season games. Teams U11 and older also participate in the Connecticut Cup, which is a single-elimination tournament played throughout the State of Connecticut. Many travel teams also play in at least one tournament per season that generally does not require an overnight stay.
Premier teams generally play 8 games per season. Teams U12 and older also participate in the State Cup, which is a single-elimination tournament played throughout the state of Connecticut. Premier teams also play in 2 to 3 tournaments each year some of which may require travel and overnight stays in hotels.
Q: What league do travel and premier players participate in and what other teams might they play?
Travel teams: for the 2018-2019 season, we have 25 travel teams playing in the Southwest District of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association.
Premier teams: for the 2018-2019 season, we have seven teams playing in the Elite Development Program (“EDP”). Founded in 1999, EDP soccer was started by a core groupo of elite clubs in Region 1. EDP is one of the largest organizers of youth soccer leagues and tournaments in the US. One of the priorities of the EDP's leagues and tournamwents is to enable soccer players to reach their full potential, with an emphasis on attending college. More than 3, 500 teams participate in EDP's leagues and more than 170,000 players compete in EDP tournaments annually.
Q: When are practices typically held for Travel and Premier Teams?
Travel and premier teams practice two to three times a week at the West Beach soccer turf fields, or at various schools including Rippowam and Turn of River Middle Schools, and Westhill and Stamford High Schools. Sample practice times can be either 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm, or 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm, depending upon the team and the coach, and are subject to change. Travel teams typically practice twice per week and premier teams typically practice three days per week.
Q: Who coaches the Travel and Premier Teams?
Stamford FC travel and premier, and elite teams are coached by professional soccer coaches through our Club’s partnership with Quality Touch Soccer Academy and Crocodile Elite Soccer Academy.
